Our story
MC Custom Tack began with one horse and one simple frustration.
In 2021, I was searching for the perfect set of reins for my 16.2-hand Quarter Horse. Like many riders, I visited local tack shops hoping to find something that felt right in my hands and offered enough length to provide a proper release during training. After coming up empty-handed time and time again, I decided to make my own.
What started as a solution for my own horse quickly became a passion. The very first set of reins I created is still hanging in my tack room today and remains one of my favorite pieces of tack. They remind me where this journey began and why quality, functionality, and craftsmanship matter so much to me.
Every piece we create is designed with riders in mind—durable enough for everyday use, comfortable in hand, and crafted to perform whether you're in the arena, on the trail, or anywhere in between.
While I taught myself the art of paracord braiding through countless hours of practice and refinement, our commitment to craftsmanship extends beyond braiding alone. We are proud to apprentice with professional leather craftsman Dave Nitzel, who brings more than 30 years of leatherworking experience to the trade. His mentorship has helped us develop the leatherwork skills and attention to detail that go into every piece we make.
